Brought to you by the Ontario Trillium Fund these 90 minute sessions give Niagara Region residents the opportunity to try the sport of Dragon Boat in a safe and fun environment at no charge.

No experience necessary. Have fun, learn the sport, the stroke and gain the skills and confidence to join a Dragon Boat crew. Ages 18 - 80+ . Dragon boat is for everyone. There is no limit to how many Learn to Paddle sessions you may attend.  

What's in it for us?  We are recruiting for all our Dragon Boat Crews for 2023. Winter, indoor training is the best time to start! You are invited to join our crews, recreational and/or competitive.

Aucune expérience nécessaire. Amusez-vous, apprenez le sport, le coup et acquérez les compétences et la confiance nécessaires pour rejoindre un équipage de bateau-dragon. De 18 à 80 ans et plus. Le bateau dragon est pour tout le monde. Il n'y a pas de limite au nombre de sessions Apprendre à pagayer auxquelles vous pouvez assister.

Qu'y a-t-il pour nous? Nous recrutons pour tous nos équipages de bateaux dragons pour 2023. L'hiver, l'entraînement en salle est le meilleur moment pour commencer ! Nous vous invitons à vous joindre à nos équipages, récréatifs et/ou compétitifs.

    FREE INDOOR DRAGON BOAT SESSION WITH OUR CREW - Whether you have never paddled before, or are a seasoned dragon boater these free indoor sessions are for you. All are welcome. 

    Mondays 4:00 -5:30pm & 6:30 - 8pm

    Wednesdays 6:30 - 8pm

    Saturdays 9:30 - 11am - Crew members that train on Saturdays are serious minded paddlers that are committed to improvement. Novices are welcome, but need to be prepared to jump right in for Saturday morning sessions.

    Drop in and Learn to Paddle spaces with the crew are limited to 6 participants per session. Maximum 3 free sessions per person.

    Dragon Boat Canada steering certification course.

    Trainer: Scott Murray

    This free 4 hour steering course is for South Niagara Canoe Club members only and has been paid for by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.  

    Volunteer paddlers are required and are asked to register here. 

    Upon completion of this course, participants will need to fulfill these additional requirements in order to be deemed Officially Certified by Dragon Boat Canada:

    1. Be deemed "Ready to Race", complete your first race at a regatta, and notify your instructor (Scott Murray)
    2. Successfully complete your Pleasure Craft Operators License (Boater Exam)
    3. Successfully complete your basic/standard First Aid (any First Aid provider)
    4. Successfully complete the online course, Safe Sport (Safe Sport)

    Spaces are limited. If there is space available after all South Niagara Canoe Club members have had first refusal this course will be offered to members outside of SNCC at the same price offered through Alkame. $150 plus hst.
